Neighbourhood

Introduction

Down the lanes and through the yards, The Brentford Project is re-connecting the high street with the waterfront.

Across lanes, yards and open green spaces, this transformational development re-connects Brentford High Street with the waterfront. The result is a new and growing riverside neighbourhood where people live well, work smart, connect easily and can constantly discover the new and the established food, craft and culture heroes of the town.

A wealth of choice

In this neighbourhood, our residents, the wider Brentford community and the rest of West London have an abundance of new choices. The Brentford Project is establishing a new retail and leisure destination with well-established household names and emerging creative enterprises, side by side with new areas of green space for exercise, relaxation and social connection.

The Waterside

The Waterside

At the river’s edge, the waterfront comes back to life.

Opened out and accessible after years of being virtually hidden from view, the stunning water’s edge along the southern boundary of The Brentford Project will be a hive of activity. The cooler air, open space and buzzing atmosphere of The Waterside is a signal of a complete change in pace.

The abundance of blue and green looking out from Workhouse Dock, towards the meeting point of the Grand Union Canal and the River Thames, is one of the most striking aspects of the new town centre, and the terrace at Town Wharf Basin has already established itself as a bold new venue for outdoor arts and culture events.

The LANES

The LANES

The Lanes are a change of pace just moments away.

Stepping off The High Street into The Lanes dials everything down. With architectural signatures of Brentford’s past, these more intimate spaces have an altogether gentler pace, lined with smaller stores, emerging entrepreneurs and independent retailers. Goods spill out onto the paving, chairs are pulled round for impromptu conversation, studios and workshops open their doors to share the craft and skill of their trade.

Choice, variety and discovery make The Lanes perfect for those rare days that start without a plan. This network of quieter paved passageways is a powerful evocation of Brentford’s past, lined with traders and stores full of fascinating things that will reward those who take their time and arrive with a spirit of unquenchable curiosity.

High Street

THE HIGH STREET

The High Street re-imagined adds a wealth of choice.

Brentford’s high street is undergoing a radical transformation. A new parade of stores on the southern side brings new shopping options for the whole town. Familiar names and high street staples will be side by side with new faces and independents. A brand new Morrisons for the weekly shop, and an Everyman Cinema for silver-screen classics and new releases.
